Retrofit

Your warehouse can do more

Bringing existing systems up to the current state of the art: longer service life, higher availability, lower operating cost.

Why retrofit

The storage and retrieval machine determines the throughput

Two things count for the operators of intralogistics systems: a low total cost of ownership and the highest possible availability of the installation. Both depend on whether the individual components do their job.

Storage and retrieval machines consist of expensive and complex assemblies and, as the workhorses of the system, contribute substantially to overall throughput. Modernising them in good time optimises not just one machine but the entire system.

Services

What we do for your system

  1. 01

    Maintenance and general overhaul

From reconditioning individual assemblies to a complete modernisation or full replacement of the machine.

  2. 02

    Replacing drive and control technology

Old drives and controls are replaced with current technology, including energy recovery and an up-to-date machine control.

  3. 03

    Connection to existing systems

The modernised machine talks to your higher-level warehouse management system without you having to replace it.

  4. 04

    Inspection and maintenance

Recurring inspections and plannable maintenance, on request for the whole remaining service life of the installation. The changeover itself is agreed as a scenario beforehand: what stands still, and when, is settled before the first bolt is turned.

  5. 05

    Spare parts supply

We make sure that spare parts remain available for older machines instead of leaving you waiting for a discontinued component.

Outcome

What we work towards together

Shared goals

Together with you we find an economical way to bring your existing systems up to date.

  • short, agreed downtimes
  • lower maintenance cost
  • higher throughput
  • longer service life
  • spare parts available long term

Machine replacement in existing buildings

Every machine from the Vectron modular system enters the building through a 200 × 100 cm door. The lifting carriage and the mast come apart for that, the mast into sections of any length.

  • no roof opening required
  • building envelope stays closed

What we replace

  • storage and retrieval machine including aisle equipment
  • controls
  • cabling

What stays

  • racking
  • top guide rail
  • building and building envelope

The replacement

What takes the place of the old machine

A machine from our modular system, sized for your aisle. It serves the same locations and talks to the same warehouse management system. What changes is everything underneath.

  • lightweight aluminium construction, around 30 % less mass
  • lifting belt instead of steel wire rope: no re-lubrication, no rope changes
  • drives with energy recovery as standard
  • control cabinet and drives reachable from floor level
  • dismantles into assemblies, installed through a standard door

Service

When it does come to a stop

How to reach us

You talk to the people who know your installation, backed by the service organisation of the KNAPP group: through it, support is available around the clock, worldwide.

Available
around the clock through the KNAPP group, seven days a week
Response time
as agreed in the service contract

Remote service

Many faults can be narrowed down remotely, and often fixed that way too. We look at the controls while your people stay where they are needed. We only travel out when the job needs hands.

  • access to the machine control once you release it
  • fault finding and analysis without a site visit
  • software and parameter changes from a distance
  • on-site work whenever mechanical intervention is required

Tell us what you have on site. We will say whether a retrofit pays off or whether replacing the machine is the better route.
